Case study · Cannabis brand & website

Hyphy Hippie

A website their industry would actually host. Photos that speak to their audience — product, personal brand, and behind the scenes.

01 · The starting point

Their platform would not carry them.

Hyphy Hippie is a cannabis company. Their first problem was not design — it was that their website platform did not take marijuana brands. They had to move to WordPress, and the site had to be rigged on the back end so it would work for their industry.

The second problem was what customers actually saw. They needed visuals that spoke to their audience: images that showed what they sell, who they are, and how the brand feels.

Our goal was to move them onto a website designed around their brand, and to direct a photo shoot that gave them the pictures to do it.

02 · The work

Built behind the scenes. Directed in front of the camera.

01

Website migration

We moved Hyphy Hippie from their previous website host to WordPress, the platform their industry required.

02

Back-end setup

The new site was rigged on the back end so it could work the way a cannabis business needs it to.

03

Website design

We designed the website so it looks and feels like Hyphy Hippie, with their brand and photos throughout.

04

Creatively directed photo shoot

I was on set to direct their poses and draw out real emotion for the get-to-know-the-owners photos.

What the shoot delivered

Three kinds of images, one brand.

Product images

Their packaged products photographed in a brand setting, so customers can see what they sell and how it is presented.

Personal brand images

Portraits of the owners — directed poses and real emotion, so people can get to know the people behind the brand.

Behind-the-scenes images

Shots from the set that show the work in progress and give the brand something real to share.

On set

Where the direction actually happens.

Behind every finished photo is a set: lights up, poses directed, and decisions made in the room so the brand comes through.

03 · The shift

A brand that shows what they do.

With their website designed and a full set of images that speak to their audience, Hyphy Hippie was able to build their overall brand in the cannabis industry — using pictures that say who they are and what they offer.
